Project Hope

Project Hope India is a Horizons outreach program that links the congregation to the Children of Pratheeksha Orphanage in India through sponsorship. Pratheeksha is a center for education and advancement for children and women, irrespective of caste, creed, sex, or religion. It is a great way for Horizons to testify to Christ's love and concern for all of His precious children.

Pratheeksha (meaning "Hope") Orphanage was founded in 1994 by Sister Jessy in a village near Trichy in the south India state of Tamil Nadu. The home addresses the needs of girls who are often rejected due to economic, social, and financial circumstances. Project Hope provides each child with a "family," since many of the children long for someone to care about them personally.

The orphanage has in the past relied primarily on private donations and Sister Jessy's inheritance. They have been trusting God each month to provide for their needs for several years with no stable income to count on. It is a testimony to God's faithfulness to provide!

Sponsoring a child for $35 a month provides money for education, clothing, food medicine, and upkeep of the orphanage. Sponsors are also able to correspond with their sponsored child to show them they care about what goes on in the child's daily life.
